The book is good with details about the show. It tells exactly what happens step by step. It is a great book to read where ever you go! I have been a Batman fan for a couple of years now and I enjoy it a lot! Keep up the good work.
Well, most of this book was pretty bad. The first two stories are pretty much exactly the same as the first two episodes of the show. The next few stories are not very good. They deal with stupid enemies that don't relate to the Batman Beyond universe. For instance, a mummy that comes to life or a magical demon from the netherworld. There are six stories and the last story involves a good enemy, Inque. However, the final story still isn't up to the Batman Beyond standard that you get from the show. Bottom line If you really like Batman Beyond get the book, but don't expect the show. I suggest going to your local comic book store and getting a single issue to check out what the stories are like.
This trade paperback collects 6 issues of the first Batman Beyond miniseries. The first two issues are a shortened version of the first and second part of BB episode 'Rebirth'. The other four are separate stories featuring Derek Powers aka Blight, Etrigan, a revived ancient mummy and Inque. The stories are quite short, but not bad, so if you like the animated series, you'll enjoy this collection too.
This book collects issues 1-6 of the comic series and BY FAR, the best part of this book is the first six pages. The first three deal with an aspect of Batman's career not mentioned on the show and the next three are the beginning of the first episode. This bit of back history makes me hope that when production is done on Batman Beyond that they do a series based on the time between The New Adventures and Beyond. The first story in this book recreates the first episode of the show, where we are introduced to Terry McGinnis and an older, crankier Bruce Wayne. All of this is done with great art and writing. A very good translation. The rest of this book isn't as good as this story. There is a dumb story about a mummy that has come back to life and a pretty good story about one of Batman's major enemies, Inque. Overall, this book very good at first and then falls a little flat. It is good, but not great. Recommended mostly for fans of the show.
This Batman Beyond Collection includes 6 stories starring the Batman of the future. I am a fan of the show on the WB, which is what compelled me to read this. It starts off with a comic adaptation of the two-part introduction to the show, Rebirth. The adaptations stick closely to the plot of the episodes and most of the dialogue is verbatim. My biggest problem with it however is, a lot of other comic adaptations I've read based on animated shows usually adds something more to it. The first issue did this a little bit, adding an additional flashback to Rebirth with Bruce Wayne trying out a new high powered glove, which essentially is the start of the Batman Beyond suit. But other than that, there's a lot that's subtracted and having previously watched these episodes, I almost felt like I was reading the Cliff's Notes at some points because they sped through it so quickly.

The remaining 4 stories range from good to average. The best of these being Never Mix, Never Worry, featuring Blight as the villain, who was criminally underused in the series. This story was worthy of being an episode of the show and I have to wonder why it wasn't. There's a story featuring Etrigan, which was pretty average, but it was cool to see him in the future, despite him not being one of my favorite characters. There's a story about a mummy with a unibrow trying to find his long lost love that he mistakes Dana for. Undoubtedly the weakest story out of the bunch and seemed like it ripped off the plot of The Mummy Returns, which in turn probably rehashed its plot from somewhere else. And lastly, a story featuring another of Batman's main villains, Inque. A decent story that also could have been an episode, but far from the best Inque story told. It painted Inque as a tragic character who really wants to give up her evil ways but is being controlled by a man who has manipulated her cell structure and she has no choice but to do what he commands or die.

The late Hilary J. Bader, who was a series writer on the show, wrote these stories. I'm not sure if these stories just didn't make the cut and they decided to put them in comic form instead of just sitting there collecting dust. Even though not all these stories were her best work, I think she's a fine writer and she does a good job at creating additional tension in Terry and Dana's relationship in these comics. The illustrations are drawn to match the style of the show, which is ok since thus far that's the only way we've seen these characters drawn. Although, I wouldn't have minded seeing a more stylized artist take over and draw these characters in a way we've never seen before. That would have made it stand out a lot more art-wise and would have made me appreciate the Rebirth adaptation better since you could just watch the shows and get the same thing and more. I'm a little disappointed that someone doesn't write their own Batman Beyond story and create a graphic novel out of it in the vein of The Long Halloween or Hush. For all the Batman stories that have been written and will continue to be told, this is all Batman Beyond fans have to read in trade paperback form and that's pitiful. Overall, not a bad read, just wish there were more Batman Beyond novels out there to choose from. I will say this, if you've never seen the show before, don't let this be your introduction to the world of Batman Beyond. Watch the show first, and then move on to this if you're still itching for more.
